Women in the Warehouse: Jeannie Anderson
May 2020
Each month, GSF features a woman leader within the GSF family of companies, sharing her journey, insights and what it takes to succeed in this industry.
Nearly two decades ago, Jeannie Anderson answered an ad to be a Warehouseman at Golden State Foods. She grew from an order selector to a trainer to her current position – Warehouse Lead at QCD Suffolk in Virginia. This month's Woman in the Warehouse has been an integral team player, currently juggling multiple responsibilities, including setting up the second shift through load planning, assigning truck lineups, and more.
Jeannie's path to QCD has been unique. After graduating from Averett University with a degree in Business Administration / Equestrian Studies, her life took a drastic turn.
"I was operating a boarding and training stable when my husband was permanently injured on his job," Jeannie shares. "In order to receive a more reliable income that provided benefits I started working in the distribution field."
Although a career in distribution was not the original plan, Jeannie enjoys the challenge of her job and shares gratitude to GSF for the opportunity to provide for her family.
Jeannie inspires other women looking to get into this industry by encouraging them to not be intimated.
"The distribution industry is very strong and offers a secure job opportunity with excellent benefits that more women should take advantage of."
